The Infinite Loops: characters who don't appear in canon change in each Loop. Each new instantiation is effectively a new person.

Me: Okay, but what if a canon Looper fell in love with one of these people, and then she was erased in the next Loop? And then he went on an epic quest to bring her back and make her a Looper as well . . .

Me: Okay, but are there any characters in Eiken who are fun or interesting? What if a Looper fell in love with an Eiken character, and he kept getting sent to Eiken on purpose so he could see her?
