Jan. 3rd, 2021 02:50 pmThere’s this thing that happens where I say I use the same rule for two different things, and people think I’m saying those two things are equally important. Like, there’s this thing religious people do where they say gay people must be unhappy. I look at gay people, and they appear happy from what I’m capable of observing, and I don’t feel qualified to judge whether they’re secretly unhappy in their heart of hearts. In the same vein, people who are against makeup say that people who use makeup are all unhappy. I look at people who use makeup, and some of them don’t seem like they’re particularly unhappy based on the traits I’m capable of observing. But I know that if I mentioned that I’m using the same rule in both cases, someone would show up to yell at me for saying that being gay is just like using makeup, even though I never SAID they’re the same.
