Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of indie stories about the creator’s personal issues. They often feel self-centered, like the creator’s problems matter more than the problems of all the people around them. But the criticism of these works can imply that honestly showing emotion is “cringe” in and of itself, and I think that’s a bad road to go down.
