In order to explain this, I need to clarify that I don’t consider fanfiction to be inherently distinct from any other kind of fiction. I tend to look at all stories through the same lens, and I don’t expect any story to be particularly influential.

With that in mind, “these games have half-naked women in them” discourse seems to me to be on the same level of importance, and of the same general quality, as “these fics have Reylo in them” discourse.
