Mar. 26th, 2023 11:54 amThe latest post going around calling out “antisemitism” sure does equivocate between “hating Jews” and “opposing the murder of Palestinians.” Just like the one before that, and the one before that.
(Fuck, I thought Athingofvikings was better than this. I knew they were to Judaism what Orson Scott Card is to Mormonism, but they’ve at least been decent enough before to say that war crimes are bad.)

Mar. 26th, 2023 12:13 pmUndertale, the Prey reboot, a bunch of other games: the story is built around the PC learning a lesson. They can accept it, or they can refuse and become a murderous monster.
Harvester, Elsinore: the story is built around the PC learning a lesson that will make them into a murderous monster. They can accept it, or they can refuse to sink that low.
Edna and Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes: the story is built in such a way that it would be equally valid for the PC to learn two opposite lessons, one of which would make her into (even more of) a murderous monster. She can accept either, or refuse both and reject every aspect of the story.
(This does not mean Harvey’s New Eyes is good. It’s interesting. There’s a difference.)

Scrapyard Station: On Flowers
Mar. 26th, 2023 01:29 pmOf course there are non-invasive Parasites. The Flowers, a faction near Scrapyard Station, don’t take live drones even voluntarily. And yes, there are people who want to be drones. The Flowers politely informed them it would guarantee a violent response from the Tinkers.
However, they do trade for biomass with which to create new bodies. Animal meat, plants, that sort of thing. They’re active in asteroid mining to get trade materials.
The Flowers are oddly knowledgeable about Christianity, and some remarks indicate they may personally identify as Christian. They show a distinct interest in the development of Tinker art and culture, too. They’ve been vague about the reasons behind any of this, but it’s probably related to why their drone bodies resemble ambulatory Earth plants.
The Flowers originally come from the worst story I ever wrote. I’ve considered rewriting it to provide a better introduction to this setting, but that would be quite a ways off.
