In response to a post about how no one complains about taxes anymore

What happened is that we grew up. When we were young, we watched the people on TV complain about taxes. Now we’re out on our own, and most of us don’t earn enough to pay taxes, so instead we complain about rent.

Haha, I complain about BOTH! (Though I reserve my deeper scorn for the way the American taxes of people who aren't me are designed to be needlessly confusing. Self-employment taxes, I feel, are kinda inevitably going to be a bit of a pain, no matter what. I can't really kvetch, anymore than a fisherman can complain about getting wet.)
