Another dream about the monster adventurers. The troll was exiled from her tribe after another troll murdered the chief and framed her for it. She spent a long time on her own in the wilderness, and she's still untrusting of other people. She's good at sneaking up and stabbing with her spear, whether on animals or people, and she knows how to set simple traps, but she doesn't have any formal rogue training, so she can't pick a lock or disarm a complicated trap. In a face-to-face fight, she relies on overwhelming strength and ferocity. She can be frightening, but she's not really evil--just bitter and lonely.

(I have a vague idea the cleric is a beholder, but I don't remember any more.)

There's five of them, standing by the old tree on the hill, getting ready to hang the stranger.

Ricardo's slinging the rope over the branch. During the war, the Council trained him to assassinate enemy VIPs. When he gets drunk, sometimes his lips get a little too loose, and he admits to me that he's tired of shedding blood. But the Council paid well for his son's schooling, with the implicit threat that they have full control over whatever happens to the boy. So whenever some stranger is suspected of smuggling banned texts or passing unwanted messages, Ricardo's the one they go to first, to tell him to round up a posse.( Read more... )
