Jan. 1st, 2021 03:27 pmCat in the Box is a great example of what I hate about alignment meters, relationship meters, etc. I started out with choices over whether to trust or not trust the stranger. At all the points where the choice was available, I chose to trust her. Then after that, I got more information and realized she clearly wasn’t trustworthy, but I was already locked out of the “don’t trust her” choices because my trust meter was too high. I’m fine with having other characters decide based on my actions--in this case, “she keeps trusting me, so I expect her to trust me in the future” or “she doesn’t trust me, so I’ll expect betrayal.” I’m less happy when I lose control of the character I’m supposed to be playing as.
