The best political satire I’ve ever seen is Don Asmussen‘s parody of The Five People You Meet in Heaven with Dick Cheney as the protagonist. In the afterlife, he meets the people he betrayed or abandoned, but can’t deal with the guilt of acknowledging his actions. In each case, he denies ever having met them and tells them to go fuck themselves. Ultimately, he meets himself, and denies himself as well. “Cheney, who had so often fucked others, had really only wanted to fuck himself. And in a way, he has.”
