There’s this recurring leftist model where they believe there exist liberals who want to make the world better and help people, but do horrible, horrible shit in the process. They think those liberals cannot be reasoned with and will just keep causing harm. I don’t think those ideas go together. People for whom “smiting the wicked” is a terminal value can’t be reasoned with until their former allies try to smite them. But if you’re trying to help people, I think there must be some way to get through to you.
