“Culturally Christian” is a failure to respond on the object level. “You believe false things Christians believe.” Okay, so what was the false thing I said?
I think part of how it works is that "Cultural Christianity" is a way to cast people you disagree with into the oppressor role, within social justice dynamics. Whether they're wrong on the object level is mostly irrelevant to that (indeed, the question of who is right on the object level is something a lot of people desperately try to cast as irrelevant in these kinds of arguments...)
