Star-anise: I’ll admit, it’s been a pain in the ass, realizing that the people parroting this “bis can’t be butch!” shit weren’t just, idk, being jerks for the fun of it, but were instead being heavily pressured into a group that was teaching them to ONLY trust its leaders and that they HAD to completely subordinate their sexual and personal identities to fulfilling someone else’s sexual needs, and in my world we spell that c-u-l-t.
Because now that means I’m fucking worried about the kids who ruin my day, goddammit. It’s like knowing that the 19-year-old Mormons trying to hand me literature are brainwashed. IT WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER TO JUST HATE THEM.
Me: When you put it that way, I wonder if you can draw a throughline between “I’m a butch; you’re a femme. You can find your identity by doing as I say and having sex with me whenever I want” vs. “I’m soulbound to Neo; you’re soulbound to Trinity. You can find your identity by doing as I say and having sex with me whenever I want.”
